Affirmative Action in the Workplace

Seminar on the history, rationale, and practice of affirmative action in the educational and workplace settings. (2-4 hours)

Appreciating Differences

This session offers insights and approaches for understanding and working with today’s diverse environments.  Emphasis is on understanding one’s own perceptions and how they influence the work and learning environment. (3-5 hours)

Creating an Inclusive and Effective Classroom Climate

Interactive session on specific issues related to diversity in the classroom that inhibit student performance. (2-4 hours)

Developing Intercultural Skills and Competency

How do we communicate and work effectively in an environment where differences in "culture" lead to misunderstanding, conflict, and reduced productivity? Using the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), this introductory workshop is designed to help participants develop the skills to work and learn effectively in a multicultural environment. It also provides an overview of effective organizational responses to diversity in the workplace. Course fee of $12.00/participant is charged to cover cost of materials. Requires 60 days lead time for course planning. (2-3 hours)

Discipline vs. Discrimination

Workshop discusses difference between appropriate discipline and discrimination, the importance of documentation and communication. Customized for those in a supervisory role. (2-3 hours)

Diversity and Harassment Prevention

Introductory workshop on creating a work and learning environment free from harassment and inclusive of all diversity. (1-3 hours)

Introduction to Diversity and Intercultural Competence

An introduction to creating an inclusive work and learning environment with a focus on intercultural conflict communication. (2-4 hours)

Resolving Conflict Across Cultures - Introduction

The ability to recognize and appropriately respond to "cultural" differences in conflict style is critically important in effectively managing and resolving conflicts, serving and working with diverse populations, and creating an inclusive and multicultural organization. Using the intercultural conflict style mode (ICS), this workshop will provide a foundation for increasing competence in cross-cultural environments. Course fee of $12.00/participant is charged to cover cost of materials. Requires 60 days lead time for course planning. (2-3 hours)
